In the Autumn of 2003 Andrew was appointed as singer teacher on LIPA's 4:19 program. Andrew works with children aged between 7-19 teaching singing in group situations. Working towards building up a safe approach to singing for the children involved. Andrew also teaches the advanced singing class at LIPA who have recently recorded 'Simple Things' a song written for the group by LIPA graduate Markku Lorentz. The song has so far raised over £600 for BBC Children in Need 2006. The advanced singing groups has also performed in 'Life Changes' the musical written by Ged McKenna and China Crisis member Eddie Lundon. This show was performed in LIPA as part of LIPA’s CAMEO project. Andrew also played keyboards for the show and arranged some of the songs for the show.
About Me
Andrew studied for a BA (Hons) Degree in Performing Arts Music at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts). Andrew received a 2:1 for his degree in July 2004 and was presented with his degree by Sir Paul McCartney. Andrew specialises in singing and has focused on the work of Jo Estill and the Voice Craft technique as well as exploring a range of other vocal techniques to enhance his knowledge. In his third year at LIPA Andrew focused on developing his skills as a musical director, working with LIPA tutor and professional composer/musical director Paul Mitchell-Davison.
Andrew is still constantly working on his knowledge of singing and making every effort to improve his skills. Before moving up to Liverpool Andrew studied at Colchester Institute to successfully pass his BTEC National Diploma in Music, as well as gaining an A-Level in Theatre Studies.
Other then teaching Andrew has played keyboards in LIPA’s production of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, assistant musical director for LIPA’s production of ‘She Loves Me’. And in May 2003 Andrew was the musical director of LIPA’s production of ‘Marat Sade’. Andrew has also Musical Directed 'And the world goes round', a review show of Kander and Ebb music. Including music from shows like 'Cabaret', 'Chicago' and 'Kiss of the Spider Women'.
Andrew is now working as a private singing teacher, teaching from home in Liverpool. Andrew enters his private students for singing exams with London College of Music. Andrew teaches at Rainford High School and Burscough Priory High School. Andrew also works for LIPA 4:19 and is one of the only teachers left from the original staff when 4:19 started 4 years ago. Andrew also runs his own company Wicked Theatre Company.
Andrew has also worked for Knowsley Performing Arts service as a freelance accompanist as well as giving vocal advice and coaching whilst musical directing for the performing arts service. Andrew has musical directed shows such as ‘The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas’ and assisted on ‘Can’t Stop the Music’. Andrew has been the musical director for Greylock summer camp in Massachusetts, USA. Here Andrew was responsible for the organisation and production of six shows over a period of eight weeks and the responsibility of teaching singing to children aged 6 – 16 years old.
